Background

A good friend of mine works at a livestock sale barn in Midland, TX. The business didn’t have a website until he approached me with creating one.

This was my first dynamic website, and it was my starting point for learning both MySQL databases and PHP.

My Role

I designed the entire site with the exception of the logo. I did the database design, the layout, the php, and the javascript.

Almost all of the code across the entire website was written in a plain text editor, and the databases are created and queried using SQL statements that were also created in a plain text editor.

Accomplishments

Below are some of the main accomplishments of the web work. I am sure the list is not all inclusive.

• Google Maps interface
• Custom searches in some areas
• Self serve event editor, link editor, country cattle sales editor, and more
• Market report uploader that parses data from a file on their existing system and adds the data to the website’s database
